What is Rush Poker?

Rush Poker is different from traditional online poker as we know it. It is much faster paced, as it was designed to reduce the wait period between hands. In fact, it eliminates all wait time whatsoever, as with each new hand, you are directly jetted to another table where you are facing entirely new opponents and are being dealt in instantly. Unlike regular poker, you are never playing at the same table twice; your opponents are new with each hand, and you can either play the hand out or fold.

Upon folding, you are simultaneously being dealt new cards at a new table. Fold again, you are at another table. When you fold, you will virtually never know how the hand played out. With this also comes a random blind structure. There is no longer a strategy behind betting position or big blind/small blind position. At the onset of each new hand, the player who has put up the big blind the least amount of times is the big blind; all other betting positions will be completely random with each new hand. When you first start Rush Poker, you will always be the big blind.

How to Play Rush Poker

To join Rush Poker, you’ll need to download the Full Tilt Poker client and click on the “Rush Poker” button in the Full Tilt Poker Lobby then “Join Now.” Since you cannot watch these tables, you have to play to check it out. When you join Rush Poker, you will be seated at a full table and dealt a hand. The second you decide that you do not like your hand, you may click “Quick Fold.” Even if it’s not your turn to act, you will be at a new table with a new hand and new players. You can also play multiple tables of Rush Poker (up to 8 at a time). Just click the “Join Now” button again. Each click is another game. The Rush Poker software will never seat you against yourself!

Cons of Rush Poker

Many players do not like the fact that most hands that don’t get folded are the best hands, and they are harder to beat. There is also virtually no room for bluffing because of this, and there is no way to read opponents betting style. It’s also highly likely that once you do get AA, all of your opponents will fold.

Strategy

While this game is too new to really map out a strategy plan, the best thing to do is play tight simply because that’s what everyone else is doing, and you just aren’t going to win with a sub-par hand when there’s really no room to bluff. What may prove to be lucrative, though, is rakeback. If you were to 8-table $100 No-Limit Rush (four 6-max and four full ring) will result in about 2,000 hands/hour, for which you’ll pay about $100 in rake. At 27% rakeback, you’ll be bringing in $27/hour just in rakeback. If you can hone your Rush Poker skills on top of that, you could make this a pretty lucrative game.
